Meghan & Harry: the wedding of the year!

Harry

Guys, I’m still not over how cute that was! I’m absolutely certain those two are head over heels for each other. Did you see that lip bite???

you're welcome

I just want to take a second her and thank my favorite – and currently only – child for being so well behaved I (almost) watched the whole wedding! And I want to take another second to say that Prince George looked adorable… maybe our next family trip will include meeting him. Or maybe Louis… than she doesn’t have to become a queen…

Anyways…

The dress(es)

She surprised everyone by choosing a design from Clare Waight Keller from fashion house Givenchy. She looked stunning in her rather minimal - for a royal wedding that is - but timeless wedding gown. The silk cady dress featured a bateau neckline and a triple silk organza under skirt. Meghan chose a cathedral-length, five-metre-long veil, trimmed with lace depicting flora from each of the 53 Commonwealth countries.

British designer Clare Waight Keller became the first female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy last year. By choosing her, Meghan again made a statement, celebrating female talent and skill. The choice of her dress proves once again that Meghan will be one of the most modern and influential princesses ever to be welcomed into the royal familiy.

As predicted, she had a second dress for the evening reception. This silk dress designed by Stella McCartney, featured a high neck and was a lot less traditional than her formal wedding gown, but just as stunningll!

The jewelry

The veil was held in place by Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara, made in 1932 and was lent to Meghan by the Queen. Its centre brooch dates back to 1893, while the bandeau itself is made of diamonds and platinum, formed as a flexible band of eleven sections, pierced with interlaced ovals and pavé set with small and large brilliant diamonds.

In addition, she wore delicate diamond stud earrings, along with a simple diamond bracelet, both in white gold, encrusted with diamonds and from Cartier.

Meghan’s wedding ring has been fashioned from a piece of Welsh gold and was given to her by the Queen as a gift. The couple broke royal tradition when Meghan gave Harry a platinum wedding band with a textured finish during the ceremony.

For the evening reception, Meghan wore the stunning aquamarine ring from Diana on her right hand. A very special way of honoring and remebering Harry’s mother on this auspicious day. It’s speculated the ring was a gift from Harry. Swooon.

The shoes

Meghan walked down the aisle sporting very simple white bridal heels. The Duchess of Sussex paired her minimalist Givenchy wedding gown with satin white pumps. No Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Aquazzura or Tamara Mellon, but again… Givenchy. Choosing the same designer for both the wedding shoes and dress is fairly common.

For the evening reception however, she did go for Aquazzura! She went for a satin pair of Aquazzura pumps, complete with blue soles  for her second wedding look.

bye bye

I hope you guys enjoyed the wedding as much as I did! And I’m pretty sure I saw my baby daddy secretly take a glance at the screen a few times… So who knows… ;)
